Finally something Sweet for Weight Loss!

Updated: Mar 28, 2021

Research indicates Honey can help you lose weight, here is how:

1. Honey Satisfies a Sweet Tooth

A 2010 research study indicated that honey affect blood sugar significantly less than regular table sugar. Eating honey was able to curb appetite cravings especially sugar cravings without undoing your daily diet.

2. Honey as a Sugar Replacement- Honey is a low glycemic index sugar

A 2011 obesity study indicated that rats fed honey versus regular table sugar gained less weight & had less body fat. While we still don't recommend eating too much sweets throughout the day, replacing your current sugar intake with honey may help you achieve your fitness and weight goals better.

3. Honey reduces Oxidative Stress and Cholesterol

A 2018 study on the effects of honey on metabolic syndromes indicated that honey can help to reduce oxidative stress (a known factor that causes metabolic dysfunction). Research has also indicated that honey improves lipid metabolism thereby reducing total cholesterol, triglycerides, and low density lipoprotein (LDL), and improving high density lipoprotein (HDL- good cholesterol).

4. Honey improves insulin sensitivity

Research has indicated that honey enhances insulin sensitivity and stabilizes blood sugar levels which protects the pancreas from overstimulation that can lead to insulin resistance (diabetic condition).

More research is needed to be fully recognized and adopted into mainstream medicine, but daily honey supplementation is most definitely warranted in a healthy diet.
